Abstract

This article examines the customs and traditions of the Turkmens living in the

Bukhara region, which have been refined over centuries and preserved to this day. The family is

considered a sacred institution, where the status of elders and community leaders (aksakals) has

always been highly respected in Turkmen households. The tradition of addressing the closest

senior family members with formal respect is a distinctive mark of honor and represents a unique

feature of Turkmen family values and traditions, setting them apart from other peoples. The article

also highlights how rituals and traditions, based on specific rules and customs, were carried out

collectively, which demonstrated the solidarity and unity of the Turkmens, as evidenced by

historical sources.
