SOCIO-CULTURAL FEATURES OF FAMILY VALUES AND TRADITIONS OF THE BUKHARA TURKMENS

This article examines the customs and traditions of the Turkmens living in the
Bukhara region, which have been refined over centuries and preserved to this day. The family is
considered a sacred institution, where the status of elders and community leaders (aksakals) has
always been highly respected in Turkmen households. The tradition of addressing the closest
senior family members with formal respect is a distinctive mark of honor and represents a unique
feature of Turkmen family values and traditions, setting them apart from other peoples. The article
also highlights how rituals and traditions, based on specific rules and customs, were carried out
collectively, which demonstrated the solidarity and unity of the Turkmens, as evidenced by
historical sources.
