THE ROLE OF ASSESSMENT IN STUDENTS' INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT

This article analyzes the role of the assessment system in the process of intellectual
development of students. Assessment is considered not only as a means of determining learning
outcomes, but also as a factor in developing students' thinking abilities, analytical and critical
approaches. It highlights the possibilities of deepening students' knowledge and stimulating
independent thinking through modern assessment methods, including formative and final
assessment types. The article also pays special attention to the issues of increasing students'
motivation through assessment, identification of their abilities and the formation of an individual
approach. The results of the study confirm that assessment is an important tool in increasing the
intellectual potential of students.
