The article considers methods for improving the process of forming geometric ideas in
primary school students based on problem-based education. The theoretical foundations of problem-based
education, the features of the perception of geometric concepts by younger students, and methods for
increasing their thinking activity are covered. In particular, special attention is paid to the creation of
problem situations, research-oriented tasks, didactic games, and methods of working in groups, which
serve to develop logical and spatial thinking. Examples of practical tasks aimed at making geometry
education more effective are presented
