The Ittihad and Teraqqi movement, as a significant political force in the recent
history of the Ottoman Empire, had a multifaceted impact on the state’s social and political life.
Although the movement included individuals with diverse viewpoints, the leadership displayed a
consistent approach to social issues. From its inception until the declaration of the Constitutional
Monarchy, the movement’s publications reflected dissatisfaction with the societal status of women
and emphasized the importance of their active participation in social life. After the proclamation
of the Second Constitutional Era, with increasing political influence, the movement provided both
financial and moral support to women’s associations and publications, demonstrating a sincere
commitment to women’s issues.
