JADIDS’ COMMENTS ON RITUAL

Abstract

The article studies the critical views of the progressives of the 20th century regarding

the conduct of family ceremonies, including wedding ceremonies. In particular, the articles published in

the press, literary and theatrical works of such modern figures as Abdurauf Fitrat, Mahmudkhodja

Behbudiy, Khoja Muin, Munavvarqori Abdurashidkhanov, and their expression of the vices of

extravagance, pomp, and excessive spending observed in the conduct of weddings are analyzed
