FROM THE HISTORY OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE AMUDARYA FLOTILY IN THE LATE 19TH - EARLY 20TH CENTURIES (BASED ON THE MATERIALS OF THE "TURKESTAN COLLECTION")

Abstract

This article analyzes the establishment of the Amu Darya flotilla in the late
19th and early 20th centuries, the stages of its development, and its role in the economic and
military-strategic life of the Turkestan region based on the materials of the "Turkestan Collection."
The study highlights the importance of the Amu Darya flotilla in freight and passenger
transportation, its role in ensuring the political interests of the Russian Empire in the region, the
processes of forming river transport infrastructure, and the impact of flotilla activities on the lives
of the local population. Additionally, based on statistical data, official reports, and periodical
press materials preserved in the pages of the "Turkestan Collection," economic, military, and
transport-communication processes occurring in the Amu Darya basin are scientifically
evaluated. The results of the study serve to further reveal the role and significance of the Amu
Darya flotilla in the history of Turkestan.
