Abstract

A modern school is designed to educate younger students with a holistic worldview in

which the facts of natural science are intertwined with cultural values and traditions. The educational

documents emphasize that one of the fundamental tasks of the school is to form students' view of the world

as a single interconnected whole. Nevertheless, pedagogical theory has not yet clearly defined the content

and methods of forming this holistic picture of the world, especially in elementary school. There is a

contradiction between the high importance of the task and the insufficient solution in practice. Therefore,

it is relevant to develop an integrative and culturological approach in natural science teaching, which

would make it possible to link scientific knowledge about nature with cultural meanings and values.
