Abstract

This article explores sources related to M.S. Istomin's research on cultivating
fine-fiber cotton and developing high-yielding varieties adapted to the region. This was crucially
important for industry and, most significantly, for strengthening military defense, driven by the
Soviet government's interests in developing cotton cultivation in Uzbekistan.
