MAIN DIRECTIONS AND METHODS OF TRAINING SPECIALISTS FOR THE COTTON-GROWING SECTOR DURING THE TOTALITARIAN REGIME

Abstract

The System of Specialist Training for the Cotton Industry in Uzbekistan in the First
Half of the 20th Century: A Historical and Analytical Interpretation This research analyzes the
emergence and evolutionary stages of the system for providing qualified specialists to
Uzbekistan’s cotton industry during the first half of the 20th century, drawing upon archival
documents. The article primarily focuses on the institutional activities of the core agricultural
education centers in Uzbekistan, namely the Agricultural Faculty of the Turkestan State University
(SAGU), the subsequently established Tashkent Agricultural Institute, and various specialized
scientific research centers. It highlights how the educational and scientific potential of these institutions served as a fundamental factor not only in staffing the industry but also in establishing
the scientific foundations of cotton cultivation.
