GENRES OF CHILDREN’S LITERATURE OF THE CLASSICAL PERIOD

Abstract

This article analyzes the role and significance of classical Uzbek literature in

the upbringing of children. During the study, it was shown that the works of such thinkers as

Alisher Navoi, Ahmad Yassavi, Yusuf Khos Hajib embody instructive ideas for children. As genres

of classical children’s literature, admonitions, parables, epics, poetic admonitions, fairy tales and

legends are distinguished. These genres served as an important source for the formation of moral

qualities, patriotism, love of science, and honesty in children. The results of the article confirm

that the classical literary heritage remains the main source in the formation of today’s children’s

literature
