MODERN CLASSIFICATIONS AND DIAGNOSTIC METHODS OF PARENTAL ATTACHMENT STYLES

The article examines modern classifications of adult attachment styles
(including parental attachment) and the main methods used for their assessment. Categorical and
dimensional approaches are analyzed, and the most frequently applied tools are presented: Adult
Attachment Interview (AAI), Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR/ECR-R), Relationship
Scales Questionnaire (RSQ), Parental Attachment Questionnaire (PAQ), and others.
Psychometric characteristics, strengths and weaknesses of each method, issues of cultural
adaptation, and practical applicability in research and clinical contexts are discussed.
Recommendations are provided for selecting the most appropriate tool depending on research or
applied goals, as well as directions for future developments.
