THE MILITARY HIERARCHY IN THE BUKHARA EMIRATE: A SCHOLARLY COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Abstract

This article explores the hierarchical structure of the military system in the

Bukhara Emirate, analyzing the roles and social status of various military groups such as sarbaz,

ghulombachcha, elnavkar, and amirlashkar. Based on archival documents and historical sources,

the study outlines the stages of military organization and examines the political and social factors

influencing its development. A comparative analysis with the military hierarchies of the Khiva and

Kokand Khanates is also provided. The findings highlight the significance of the military

administration in maintaining the Emirate’s political stability and defense capability
