Abstract

This article analyzes the history of cultural ties and meetings between the
Uzbek SSR and India. Throughout the 20th century, cultural cooperation between the two
countries has been strengthening, and exchanges in the fields of art, literature, music, cinema and
education have played an important role in this process. The work focuses on the visits of famous
Indian artists to Uzbekistan, trips of Uzbek writers and artists to India, as well as bilateral
scientific and creative cooperation. The widespread popularity of Indian cinema in the Uzbek SSR
is also indicated as an important factor that deepened the cultural closeness between the two
peoples. The study highlights not only the historical, but also the continuity and significance of
cultural ties today.
