Abstract

The history of the religious wars in France has not been sufficiently studied at the level
of European historiography and source studies. In particular, the lack of major scientific papers on this
topic written in the national language indicates an insufficient study of this problem in modern French
historiography and source studies. In addition, “Sources of Religious Warfare in sixteenth-century
France” as the main research topic is also valuable for schools of modern historiography and source
studies. This article reveals the end of the religious war and the establishment of an absolute monarchy in
France. Based on historical sources, I was able to show the historical significance of the Edict of Nantes
on the settlement of the religious issue in the country.
